Inside Luton Borough Council
Luton: genuine, connected and future-focused
The Council’s values guide the behaviour of our people. They will influence strategic and operational decisions, helping us to set the organisation apart and to really demonstrate that Luton ‘CARES’.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Luton Borough Council reflects the diversity of the community it serves. As an inclusive employer, applicants from all backgrounds are welcomed. The aim is to provide a creative and innovative place to work with the community involved in decisions. Luton is committed to equality and therefore making the recruitment process as open and inclusive as possible.
Integral to Luton’s approach is stability and security. It is proud to offer flexible and hybrid working options as well as tailored career development through a Personal Development Plan. The culture is warm and welcoming – everyone helps each other. New ideas are encouraged and always listened to.
Looking Ahead
Luton is ambitious for itself and for all of the people – local residents and employees.
Evidence of this aspiration can be seen in Luton’s day-to-day activity. A recent example is the new £38.8m development of a Construction and Engineering Centre at Luton’s Barnfield College. Set to open in 2024, the new development will benefit the town’s residents and businesses. Students will find all they need on one state-of-the art college campus. The new facility will allow students access to the latest equipment and technologies and to develop the skills they need, now and in the future.
Universally Ambitious
Luton Borough Council has an employment and skills strategy which focuses on transforming the lives of its communities through art, culture and heritage, the building of local wealth, educating and training skills for the future to result in a thriving town centre.
By offering residents high-value, well paid local jobs, everyone benefits from a diversified economy and the growth of key sectors such as the green economy, digital, creative industries and more.
With over 100 different languages spoken, and a unique combination of cultures and needs, Luton is a great place for social care professionals who want to make a difference and further develop their career in a supportive environment.
