As part of his role, Ed conducts comprehensive assessments of an individual’s needs, covering:

• Considerations for both individual and shared accommodation.
• Recommendations regarding fitted equipment.
• Adaptations and alterations to existing properties.
• Planning and design input for new-build property.

Ed’s work is instrumental in ensuring that people with Learning Disabilities and Autism have access to accommodation that promotes independence, safety, choice, and dignity.

Ed has Played a Key Role

By collaborating closely with Council and Health colleagues, Ed has played a key role in improving living environments for people with complex needs. He has contributed to the design and specification of new homes, as well as the adaptation of existing properties, to ensure the best possible housing solutions for both individuals and group projects.

As an occupational therapist, Ed is trained to support people in living as independently as possible while maintaining their mental well-being through meaningful daily activities. His assessments take into account not only the physical environment but also the sensory and emotional needs of each individual.

His attention to detail has been invaluable in ensuring successful transitions to new homes, supporting families—especially when individuals lack the capacity to make decisions themselves.
